At Wild at Heart Rescue in Mississippi, Gigi the poor owl in terrible condition was brought, after the animal was hit by a car it seemed like her fate was sealed, even the center staff were highly sceptical that the animal would survive.
“This bird was one of the most critical we have ever taken care of,” Missy Dubuisson, the rescue’s founder told the Dodo. “The fact that this bird has lived is beyond comprehension.”
Gigi was a fighter. She didn’t give up, beat all the odds and made a full recovery, but this success wouldn’t be possible if there wasn’t Douglas “Doug” Pojeky, the man who saved many badly injured birds.
Dough gained the trust of cute owls since day one.
“In all my years of working with birds of prey, I have never seen someone with such a bond with these magnificent birds, Dubuisson said. “It literally brings tears to my eyes to watch him interact with these birds. They absolutely know him and trust him. It’s the trust that you see in her face.”
The man’s affection and empathy towards these birds make him seen as an angel to their eyes, so that’s why when Gigi meets her rescuers after a few days she can’t stop hugging him.
This however is not the first time a bird shows in such a sweet way the gratitude to the man that saved it’s life.
A huge condor returned to thank the man who saved its life a few years ago.
Animals are so sweet, we don’t deserve them.
