Dog who waited 1,250 days for a forever home finally gets adopted

Dogs that stay in shelters hope to find forever homes and a family to love and take care of them, but sadly some have to wait way longer than others for that to happen, some of them even think if they will ever get adopted.

Dog who waited 1,250 days for a forever home finally gets adopted

Let us introduce you to Bowie, the sweet dog who spent 1,250 days waiting for his forever home.

Sweet Bowie is a 6 year old Pit bull that was born in the care of Gateway Pet Guardians.

Unfortunately life was hard for the poor dog since he got adopted when he was a puppy and then got brought back to the shelter.

Later he spent two and half years in foster care but somehow could never find a forever home.

“He’s a great dog who is very well trained and just needs someone to give him a chance,” said  Brittany Fleming, placement manager at Gateway Pet Guardians.

According to his caretakers the dog keeps being overlooked without any fault, maybe it was because of his breed and we all know how unfair people can be toward them labelling them as aggressive.

Another possible reason was that Bowie had to be an alone dog and also doesn’t get along with kids so that put limitations to possible adopters.

The caretakers didn’t give up on him, after they shared the story of sweet Bowie with the world he gained a big fanbase.

“Whoever adopts Bowie is going to inherit a bunch of new friends because he has quite the fan club rooting for him,” Brittany Fleming said.

Lately after the story got shared with the world the luck of the sweet dog finally changed and 40 possible adopters came forward about him, says WKYC.

One of the possible adopters was Briana who didn’t have any other dogs or kids so was the perfect choice.

One more plus is that her roommate is a dog trainer.

“We thought it was a perfect fit for a sensitive guy like Bowie that sometimes just needs a little extra time to warm up to strangers,” the rescue told WKYC.

It took long 1200 days for the sweet pooch to find his forever home, and his fans decided to step in and cover the adoption fee, as well as pay for four in-home private training sessions and a professional photoshoot.

We are so happy for Bowie. We wish him a happy life.
