After spending years on a family being a member,in a lot of cases poor dogs get dumped like trash from their owners because now they are old and no fun.
Choco is a poor 13-year-old senior dog that was dumped on Lancaster Animal Care Center in Los Angeles in August from his owners who shamelessly said they can’t keep him anymore, since he is old.
The poor Chihuahua mix after 13 long years being a family dog found himself alone and scared, without a family in an unknown environment , the shelter was keeping him on a peaceful and quiet part of the shelter, since this is what senior dogs need,a peaceful and calm environment.
The problem was that him staying on that more distant part of the shelter to get his peaceful rest, people won’t be able to see him and finding him a home was almost impossible.
But fate decided to be on our Choco’s side and he had a big break through when Rita Earl a photographer showed to the shelter to take dog pictures and she captured our lovely dog as well, since she immediately felt an attachment towards Choco.
“HE WAS ONE OF FOUR DOGS WHO WERE IN MEDICAL THAT DAY,” EARL BLACKWELL TOLD THE DODO. “THE THING THAT STOOD OUT TO ME ABOUT HIM WAS NOT ONLY HOW QUIET HE WAS AND HOW SWEET HE WAS, BUT HE HAD VERY WORRIED EYES.”
“WHEN I ASKED THE ATTENDANT WHAT WAS MEDICALLY WRONG WITH HIM, THEY TOLD ME THAT HE WAS BROUGHT IN BY HIS OWNERS, AND HIS OWNERS STATED THAT HE WAS TOO OLD, AND THEY DIDN’T WANT HIM ANYMORE,” EARL BLACKWELL ADDED.
“SO HE DIDN’T COME IN WITH A BROKEN BONE OR ANYTHING PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH HIM. HE WAS JUST TOO OLD FOR THEM, SO THEY LEFT HIM BEHIND AT THE SHELTER, WHICH IS ALWAYS VERY SAD BECAUSE … HE’S IN A STRANGE PLACE WITHOUT HIS FAMILY THAT HE’S KNOWN.”
“HE WAS HAPPY TO SEE US, WHEN I FIRST WALKED UP, HIS TAIL WAGGED AND WAGGED AND WAGGED.”
Rita posted Choco’s cute pictures on facebook hoping and praying he would attract someone’s attention and he finds a deserving forever home, and that’s exactly what happened.
The founder of A Purposeful rescue, Hillary Rosen after only a short few days got the senior dog rescued from the shelter.
Choco was renamed Toast, and Rita feels so happy that she decided to go at the shelter that day,and became the reason Toast got rescued.
“I met a lot of dogs that day, but when I came home that night, he stayed on my mind,” she said. “I was praying that he’d find somebody, and then this rescue group took him. It’s one of my favorite rescue groups — I love the work that they do … so for them to take him, it was extra joy for me.”
So happy for Toast,he now will never feel alone or abandoned.
