We all have heard stories about how delivery people and dogs don’t have a good relationship with each other.
But that is not the truth, most delivery guys love and enjoy being with dogs, from time to time they even save their lives.
An Amazon man had the same story, he was at the right time at the right place and saved a poor pooch from drowning.
While on his route to make deliveries in Woburn, Massachusetts, John Cassabria heard an alarming voice coming from someone’s yard.
“I’ve never heard anything like that in my life,” he told CNN.
When he pulled over to investigate he saw there was a 14-year-old Husky dog drowning in a swimming pool, and was struggling to stay above water.
“I saw what looked like a snout and at that moment my heart sank,” he told CBS Boston.
John didn’t even hesitate to jump and save the canine. “I jumped into the pool with everything on. Phone wallet watch. None of it mattered. I thought only of the dog at that moment.”
Thanks to his actions Luka the dog was saved.
Turns out the family was on vacation and the sitter was coming to the house so the dog was left alone for some time.
John accompanied the dog while the police informed the police, they were shocked by the call.
“I dropped the phone. I just started crying and I dropped the phone,” Julie Caldwell told CNN. “I couldn’t even talk.”
They stated that their dog never approached the pool since he is too old to swim so usually stays indoors.
So this unusual behaviour must have been triggered by some bone on the side of the pool.
But thanks to John the disaster was avoided.
Julie wrote a letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to let him know about their driver’s heroic actions.
“I happened to be in the right moment at the right time,” he told CBS Boston. “I would repeat the same actions over and over if I had to.”
World needs more people like John.
